Seasonal Makeup Tips PDF Print E-mail
The ways to apply makeup and cosmetics need to change according to the season to suit the climatic conditions. Here we will cover some tips to not look ruined and washed out in monsoon and achieve a sexy and sensuous look in winter:

Monsoon Makeup:
  • Check the options available for long lasting lipsticks that are marketed as non-transferable or color stay varieties.
  • Use powder matte cosmetics rather than creamy and glossy ones.
  • Thread your brows regularly to keep them in shape and avoid using eyebrow pencil for the season.
  • You can tame your unruly brows by using a little hair gel and a brow brush.
  • Sheer and pastel powder eye shadows in brown, pink and light brown shades are just right for the rain parties.
  • Avoid using pressed powder in monsoons as it can form patches on skin. If you must use it, use it sparingly.
  • Avoid kajal and use water-resistant mascaras and eyeliners.

Winter Makeup:
Skin care routine and cosmetics for winters need to undergo a heavy makeover for the chilly cold season. You need to look more glamorous and more polished during the season. Matte understated shades such as coffee, chocolate and smoky shades for eyes and berry tones for lips and cheeks replace the fresh summer face. Gloss is in again and so are our beloved fruity and spicy tones of cosmetics. Velvety shades are the way to go for a winter woman. Here are some tips you can use this Christmas season:

  • A bit of sheen on eyes can be used too for a change, if you are using nude shades; while on lips, it can help your lips to look more voluptuous.

  • Either your moisturizer or your foundation should have broad-spectrum sun protection factor to block UV sunrays that do not leave our skin alone even for winters. Matt finish foundation is better for winders.
  • For fragrance, stick to essence of essential oils, spices and other natural aromas. If you want to sport long eyelashes, you may try fake individual eyelashes that can be applied using tweezers.Sheer layer of creamy blushers can boost up your subtle makeup.

  • Smokey eyes look best in winters and you can use eye shadows in cinnamon and coffee shades for sultry effect.Though, normally black mascaras make a comeback every winter season, this time it is the shades of Aubergine that are a great hit for the purple tint that matches your colored locks. A dark brown shade of waterproof mascara is a multipurpose product too.

  • Tinted lip balms in honey, blackberry and red currant tones look great too in winters.
  • Tinted powder with a slight shimmer is great for winters.Use ample amount of skin-priming moisturizers, especially meant for winters, on your face that may have properties to exfoliate gently and lower concentration of alpha hydroxy acids. Night cream should be heavy for winters.Use matte medium-tone shades on eye creases to define them. Apply them from outer edge to the inner one.

  • Too much shimmer on dry winter skin can look glaring.Add depth to eyes using subtle colors of mascara such as navy, maroon and golden-brown shades.Deep red or warm red brown lipstick look good in winters and add glow to skin.Use soft gloss on the lipstick to tone down the harsh winter look.

Summer Makeup Tips:
Summer makeup should not be heavy and is mostly aimed at protecting the skin from exposure to sun rays, avoid excessive sweating, cut out the oily shine and prevent clogging of skin pores that often result in acnes and pimples. Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy, make your makeup last longer and keep you looking fresh:

  • Let your skin breathe and use sheer makeup that serve more than one purposes. It is important to keep the humidity locked in as sweating dries skin out. So, lock away your foundation for the season and use a light moisturizer with sun block instead.Instead of using foundation to cover up freckles, use translucent tinted powder to blot the skin and add color to it.

  • Go for the nude natural look for the lips. Even for evening parties, it is preferable to use loose shimmer powder on arms and neck and a soft gloss on lips.Sensual and bronze skin and natural look is the look for summers, so work on it.

  • Eyes should be done simply. Use neutral and soft shimmery eye shadow on lids and work on lashes instead. Curl your lashes and use glossy black shade on them to make them appear longer and your eyes bigger. Use only a very fine line with eyeliner.

  • Cheek sticks and crème eye colors are easy to apply and last longer in summer. If you must apply foundation, mix it with loose powder to keep you looking fresh throughout the day.
