A Cure For Stuttering PDF Print E-mail
At the age of four I started to stutter when I spoke. It was not on every single word, possibly on average one in ten. This stutter continued to blight my life for the next eighteen years. It caused me many problems and badly affected my overall confidence. I was desperate to find some sort of cure as I could bare the thought of having the stutter for the rest of my life. In this article I will write about my journey to find a cure for stuttering.

One of my pet hates in life has to be negative people. Having a speech impediment unfortunately led me to meeting many of these type of people. For example three speech therapists (I had a number during my eighteen years of having a stutter, basically because none of them seemed able to help me) told me that there was not a cure for stammering/stuttering. They wanted me to accept the stutter, even to start to like the fact that I had it. If you accept it, life will become more bearable for you and not so frustrating, they explained. I was even introduced, strangely, to people who had accepted their own stutter's, this was to show me how happy these people were. I was not convinced!

I decided that despite what these people were attempting to tell me, that I would never accept it and would always fight and search to find these golden stuttering cure.

Now I am very much a sports fan and player. I was often amazed that I would never stutter when playing football. I often wondered as to why this was.

I could also sing without any hint of a stutter, I always wondered why this was.

When I was a little bit drunk, I could also talk, stutter free. How can these people who are telling me that there is no possible cure for stuttering be true?

At the age of twenty-two I finally managed to beat the stutter and as a career I now help other people who stutter to achieve fluency.
